Becoming the B Boss is a little blog largely about the self-indulgent exploration of the dark recesses of my mind. It is a confession booth, a web diary and a self-help manifesto. If your find yourself cringing as you read it, it has achieved the desired effect.
The B Boss is the aspirational fictional character I created to guide myself through a quarter-life crisis and beyond. She is the love child of Karen Walker (from Will & Grace) and Samantha Jones (from Sex and the City) – i.e. drunk and horny, but also (more importantly) a female ideal – a strong, successful, sassy woman who knows what she wants and does not care what people think about her.
Hiding in the larger-than-life shadow of The B Boss, is a 27-year-old girl from Cape Town, South Africa. Having recently qualified as a chartered accountant (snore fest), I have spent the last year bouncing between jobs and now find myself involved in the launch of a new start-up (read: wearing pyjamas all day).
I LOVE: running, yoga, the Point gym, walks on the Sea Point promenade, watching series, mosaic-ing, photography, travelling, blogging, social media, Excel, technology, all things Apple, high heels, Havaianas, Lady Gaga, Stephen Colbert, red red wine, Autunno pizza from Col Cacchio, chocolate cheesecake from Charly’s Bakery, cooking, grinding, my family, most of my friends (jokes – all of my friends), Adam.
I HATE: haters, hipsters, car guards, hipster car guards (who wear their reflective vests with irony), whalers, poachers, smug corporate fat cats, politicians, taxes, organised religion, ignorance, inequality, injustice, insincerity, incense.
MOTTO: Keep it tight. Keep it real.
